Forget clicks, KitKat consumers craved connection. So, we answered their craving, turning the KitKat Chocolatery into a holistic brand experience. How? By creating an immersive omnichannel retail experience that blended physical and digital delights to capture the hearts (and breaks) of a Gen Z audience.

THE STORY

NEW BREAKS, NEW DESTINATIONS
Nestlé's KitKat had already captured a considerable percentage of South America's confectionery market. But they craved more. Enter Landor, tasked with launching a new, premium confectionery proposition to capture the hearts of Gen Z: KitKat Chocolatory. By leaning into the brand promise of “Have a Break, Have a KitKat”, we designed and launched an omnichannel retail strategy focused on immersion, flavour, engagement, and play.


ALWAYS ON, ALWAYS CONNECTED
Recognising Gen Z’s desire for immersive experiences and personalised interactions, we designed both a physical retail and online environment that enabled opportunities for exploration, connection, customisation, and self-expression, both online and offline.


THE PLAYGROUND – IRL & URL
We created a KitKat Chocolatory Wonderland – an omnichannel retail experience fused with Virtual Reality, Interactive Pick n’ Mix flavour exploration, gamified vending experiences, and Augmented Reality treasure hunts.
        Customers could personalise confectionery with photos and laser-etch messaging onto packaging – the perfect gift. And, of course, share their creations and experiences on social media – the perfect gift. The result? A break that’s shareable, memorable, and ‘instagrammable’. 
 

        By creating a cohesive brand experience across both physical and digital touchpoints, we proved that a break can be much more than just a moment – it can be a fully immersive brand experience.
