Former head of design at Marks & Spencer joins Landor London

LONDON (23 January 2017) — Landor, a global leader in brand consulting and design, has appointed Richard Jones as executive creative director in its London office, with a view to enhance the firm’s multichannel design capabilities and build on its award-winning consumer branding practice.

Jones, who was previously head of design and production at Marks & Spencer, will now oversee all creative output at Landor London. His nearly 30 years’ experience in design and branding has seen him work across a diverse range of major brands and projects locally and regionally including Vodafone, Gillette, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, and Chevrolet.

While at Marks & Spencer, Jones led the brand design team and was responsible for raising creative output across packaging, in-store communications, brand imagery, and digital, which included the recent brand refresh and food hall experience. Prior to Marks & Spencer, Jones was executive creative director at two leading creative agencies, G2 Joshua and OgilvyAction, now part of Geometry Global.

As part of Landor’s commitment to creating agile brands that thrive in today’s disruptive marketplace, Jones will be tasked with using his experience of developing multidisciplinary creative teams to amplify Landor’s 360 degree branding capabilities. His rich background in fast-moving consumer goods will also allow him to strengthen Landor’s reputation for delivering award-winning consumer branding projects.

Commenting on his new position, Jones said, “It’s a huge privilege to take on the creative leadership of Landor London. There are few brand agencies in the world with as big and proven a reputation for creativity and innovation. I’m thrilled to be taking a leading role in defining the next chapter of this agency’s brilliant history.”

Andrew Welch, managing director of Landor London stated: “Richard’s expertise in bringing to life brand stories across film, verbal, print, digital, and environmental applications makes him a perfect fit for this role; in today’s disruptive multichannel world, brands can no longer be created as static or fixed elements, they must be considered and crafted to live in a rich and diverse environment creating compelling experiences for consumers. We’re thrilled to have him lead our London creative team and we’re confident he will take Landor London to new creative heights.”
