Landor reveals secrets to selling creativity

June 15, 2012

CANNES (15 June 2012) Landor Associates, a global creative community of brand strategists and designers, will inspire attendees at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on 19 June, 2012, during Landor Live: How to Sell Creativity in a Creative Way. The hour-long session will be facilitated by Mary Zalla, chief executive officer; Cheryl Giovannoni, president of global key client relationships; and Peter Knapp, global creative officer. It will run twice, at 12h30 and 17h00 CET. The sessions will be held in the workshop room on floor -1 in the Palais des Festival.

During the session, attendees will hear Ms. Zalla and Mr. Knapp talk about why clients need creativity more than ever and discuss innovative, engaging and relevant solutions to help them compete in the dynamic, volatile and growing markets of the world. Some themes of the session include:

  • Creatives work hard to produce great, creative, and potentially effective solutions. How do you sell the idea, as the work doesn’t always sell itself?
  • Getting the best, most creative work produced requires real influence. How do you go beyond selling to inspire your clients to see the potential in the work you have produced?
  • How to overcome things that work to derail the creative process, such as fear, pre-determination, collaboration, social dynamics, emotional decision making and lack of rapport.
  • Strategies to understand audiences, empathize with them and their situation such as:
    • Appreciation for the power of story versus facts alone
    • Understanding of the confirmation bias
    • Consciousness of courage vs. daring
    • Awareness of the Asch effect
    • Fortitude and determination

By the end of the session, attendees will be better able to identify and overcome challenges to selling creativity; and will themselves be braver in the work they create and present. An iPad will be given away at the end of each session.

In its more than 70-year history, Landor has developed long-term, global partnerships with some of the world’s leading brands. Corporate and product brands from organizations like BP, British Airways, Citi, DC Comics, Diageo, FedEx, Kraft Foods, MillerCoors, P&G, and Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces have helped Landor hone its skills in selling creativity.
